Description :-
The Inscribed and Concentric Figures is a Montessori material designed to help children explore and
understand the concept of gradation and the relationship between shapes that are inscribed (one
shape inside another) or concentric (shapes sharing the same center). The set consists of 6
squares, 2 triangles, and 8 circles, all designed to demonstrate how figures can be arranged within
each other or with a shared center.
The pieces are color-coded to enhance the sensory experience and visual recognition. Specifically:
6 circles and 6 squares are red on one side and green on the other side.
2 triangles and 2 circles are blue on one side and yellow on the other side.
All of the pieces are carefully stored in a polished wooden box with three compartments and a lid
for easy organization and access.
Inscribed and Concentric Figures
The main objective of the Inscribed and Concentric Figures set is to help children understand the
concept of gradation—the gradual change in size or other characteristics. It also introduces the
concepts of inscribed figures (where one figure fits perfectly within another) and concentric
figures (where multiple shapes share the same center but differ in size). Through this exercise,
children develop an understanding of spatial relationships, order, and visual discrimination.
