Deccanomial Squares

The goal of the Decanomial Squares is to introduce children to the concept of squares of binomials and higher polynomials. By using the strips, children will learn to:  Visually and physically explore the expansion of squared binomials.  Understand the concept of algebraic expressions, focusing on how binomials expand when squared.  Begin to grasp the algebraic properties of squares and recognize the relationship between terms in an algebraic expansion. This material helps children develop their mathematical thinking by bridging the gap between concrete understanding (physical strips) and abstract algebraic concepts.
