The Chapati Making Set is a Montessori-inspired material designed to introduce young children to Practical Life (EPL) concepts through a hands-on, real-life task—making chapatis (Indian flatbreads). This activity is not only practical but also fun and engaging for children, as it allows them to participate in everyday kitchen tasks and develop important life skills.

The set includes everything needed to create a miniature, child-friendly chapati-making experience:

  • Rolling Pin: A small, lightweight rolling pin sized for a child’s hands. This tool allows children to practice rolling dough evenly, promoting fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Dough (or Substitute): Children can work with real dough or a substitute like playdough to mimic the chapati-making process. The dough helps develop tactile sensitivity and hand strength.
  • Small Board (Chakla): A small rolling board or chakla where the dough can be placed for rolling. This surface is flat and smooth, allowing the child to roll the dough evenly, further enhancing their coordination and dexterity.
  • Round Cutter or Lifter: A small round cutter (or even a lid) can be used to shape the dough into perfect round chapatis. Alternatively, a small lifter helps children practice gently lifting and flipping the dough without breaking it.
  • Tray: A tray is provided to keep all the materials organized in one place. It also creates a defined workspace, encouraging order and a sense of structure in the activity.

This set offers children a chance to engage in a culturally rich, real-world task, allowing them to feel included and capable of performing meaningful work in the kitchen or at home.
